If your name is David, it's very likely at least one person has pronounced it differently in recent years thanks to Annie Murphy. The actress is best known for her role as Alexis on the award-winning television series "Schitt's Creek" where she plays sister to Dan Levy's character David. On the show, Alexis is frequently agitated with her brother and often says his name with childlike emphasis and a hint of a whine.
"Schitts Creek" may have come to an end much to the dismay of its legions of loyal supporters, but Murphy's career certainly hasn't. She is in the process of filming a new series called "Kevin Can F**k Himself ," in which Hingham was chosen as a backdrop.
Production crews could be seen at Hingham Harbor this morning as scenes were filmed at Red Eye Roasters and later this afternoon in Downtown Hingham as filming continued inside and around Tryst Studio. The salon announced recently on its social media accounts that customers need not worry when they saw that the name on their sign had been changed. It temporarily reads "FAUSSE" to accommodate the show.
Murphy has been spotted in other communities across the State, like Worcester and Boston, and will likely make other stops as filming continues.
This is the second time in the past few months that Hingham has been the location of a movie or television shoot. Back in July, Hingham native Colin Charles Dale decided to film a movie he wrote called "Magnolia Flowers" in his home town. "I was born and raised in Hingham," said Dale, "and for my first feature film I wanted to write something that I knew I would be able to pull of and I think having the support of the Hingham community, given the fact that I grew up here, was hugely important to the success of the film." Cast members include Sam Vita and Matt Haggarty also from Hingham. "Magnolia Flowers" is expected to be released next year.
