Wherever you are on Saturday at 10:00 AM, stop for a moment and listen.  You’re likely to hear bells.  Bells will ring across town to celebrate Independence Day and commemorate what would have been the start of the Hingham 4th of July Parade

The 4th of July Parade in Hingham is a longtime tradition that celebrates Independence Day and patriotism.  It is one of the largest parades in Massachusetts.  The parade, as well as the road race and fireworks, are canceled this year due to public health safety concerns surrounding COVID-19 and social distancing. However, Harbor Media will be showing a virtual parade throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

New North Church, along with many other churches and community partners, are joining in for a day of celebration on Saturday by ringing bells for thirteen minutes starting at 10:00 AM - one minute for each of the thirteen colonies that voted for independence from Britain.  Residents are being encouraged to join in and make their own noise.
