On Sunday, August 16th, two rallies were held in Hingham. One was put on by a group called America Backs The Blue and was located at the Hingham Shipyard. This is their third rally in Hingham over the past two months, the first being prompted by the joint decision to remove the Thin Blue Line Flag from the back of a Hingham fire engine.
The other rally that was held on Sunday afternoon was organized by a Black Lives Matter group from Scituate in response to the America Backs The Blue rally. "So, I guess I'll start off with why we're here," explained Yaritza Dudley a community organizer with Black Lives Matter. "Last week Desmond (Sullivan of Scituate) contacted me about the fact that there was going to be a Blue Lives Matter protest here in Hingham." Participants gathered at the gazebo at Hingham Harbor to listen to two speakers. This video shows the speech given by Dudley in its entirety.
